City Alive! Singapore's biggest Street Dance party will be held on 31 Jan 09, Saturday at City Hall Front (along St Andrew's Road) from 9.30pm to 3.00am. Join us for a time of fun and celebration! Come and party with renowned international and local DJs, catching their incredible spin and scratching skills and of course, tons of yummy food and drinks available, all at City Alive!

Join us in this fun and exciting Street Dance party! Please do support and see you there!

- First 2000 ticket holders who reach there on the actual day, will receive something related to HP.
- One free drink with every Ticket purchase (Tiger beer/ Soft Drinks)
- If you can get 20 or more people to purchase the tickets, you will only need to pay $13 for Passion card members OR $17 for non Passion card members (Non Passion card members will get free Passion card sign up with every ticket purchase).

Would you like to be part of Singapore's Biggest Street Dance Party? City Alive! is currently looking for volunteers!

City Alive! will be on 31 Jan 2009 at City Hall Front. Volunteers are required to report at 4pm and the dance party will last till 3am (1 Feb). As it is a dance party and club rules apply, all volunteers need to be at least 18 as of 31 Jan 2009. As volunteers, we will be split into different groups as security, logistics and many others.

Email to Siti (siti.hajar.amir@gmail.com) your name, admin number, contact number, email address, t-shirt size by 14 Jan. We need as many volunteers as possible, so do let us know if you are interested!

This is a leadership camp, so punctuality and discipline is expected. No one is allowed to leave the camp at any time, unless for approved reasons.

Ensure that you follow closely to the list and bring sufficient camp items, especially those labelled as MUST bring items.

No music players, PSPs or entertainment electronic devices allowed. There will be a mass bag check, any mentioned items found will be confiscated.

Important to note: Please have sufficient rest before the camp, as the activities planned are very packed and demanding.

If you need to put your camp bags in SU room at an earlier time before the camp, do inform us, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

The NYP Campus road run 08 is finally here. as stated in the poster, the NYP campus road run 08 will be held on 19th November 2008, Wednesday, 3.30pm, NYP sports stadium.The run will end around 8pm. Event T-shirt will be given to participants. No entry fee. You can participate individually or in team of 6 (with at least 2 of the opposite gender).Female will run approximate 4.8km, male will run approximate 5.2km.
Medals are given to top few runners. It's a good bonding session with your classmates and friends. It's a chance to test how fast you are. Guys, a good pre test before your NAFA.

The forms can be collected at student affair office at level 4, Blk E. north canteen take lift to level 4, you can see the office. Please submit your form there also.

As the title says, this event is for YOU AND ONLY YOU – FRESHIES.
A whole day event with fun-filled activities, you might want to bring beach equipments – volleyball, rugby ball, Frisbee etc... and extra set of clothing to change into before the movie. You definitely do not want to go there stinky. :D

First off, we’ll be having some ice breaker games. After that you will get to play our very own Scavenger Hunt. Want to have your own activities at the beach with your friends AND NEW FRIENDS? No problem. There will be a free and easy timeslot; you can play your own games. Finally, after we leave for Vivo around 6.30pm, you can decide to join us for the movie rumoured to be one of the nicest show this season - Ma Ma Mia!!

This year , participants will be given goodie bag and t-shirt with lots of goodies as well as attractive prizes! Registration can be made at Student Affairs Office or at the Climb-Run Booth which will be stationed outside Macdonalds every Monday , Wednesday and Friday from 11.45am-2pm!There is a registration fee of $5.

The very happening, oh so awesome Social department (ahem ahem) is organizing an outing for all at the beach! Details are as follows:

Meeting point: Sentosa ticketing area, near Foodrepublic

Please bring along $3 for entrance fee. Personal expenses to be taken care of by the own individual. Brunch/lunch/dinner will not be provided. Please also bring an extra set of clothes to change into.

Okay, so here's the plan. For our next exco outing, let's try something different. Prawn fishing, anyone? The day before the actual outing, as organisers, me and Matthew, went to recce the area. Since we are actually going for the outing on Labour Day, maybe the prawns need to rest, no?

This time round CSC is working in collabration with NYAA to club to organise the meaningful Blood Donation Drive for students in our campus. It shall be held from the 28th Nov to 1st Dec 2006

Right now, they are looking for volunteers who are able to commit to 1 briefing before the event and 3 shifts during the actual Drive.

As usual, 3 shifts award you with 1 CCA point and you get a free shirt and lanyward to remember the event by. (It's gonna be a different T-shirt from the previous Drive ;p)

To our Director of Academic Services, Mr Woon, Deputy Director of Academic Services, Mr Foo, our Direct Advisor, Mr Wee, Student Affairs Officers, Student Representative from various clubs and fellow Students’ Union members, a very good evening to all of you. First and foremost, thank you for sacrificing this evening to attend Students’ Union commissioning 2006.

Being a member in Students’ Union for the past 1 year, I truly had a wonderful and exciting life in Nanyang Polytechnic. It all started with me as a helper for Sports Fiesta 2006, which was organized Neo Kai Way. From then on, I slowly learnt to appreciate the beauty of organizing event. During this one year, I have made a lot of friends from various schools in NYP. During events, we suffered hardships and overcame challenges together. In camps, our bonds grew stronger and built friendships that would last infinity. This is truly Students’ Union where I belong.

During the past one year, the 13^th Excos has shared their knowledge with us. Being juniors, we had learnt a lot of meaningful things from them. One of the most valuable thing I learnt from them is that “Mistakes are unavoidable. Mistakes done cannot be undone. However reflecting on mistakes is the key to success in the future”.

It is the unity and capability of the 13^th Excos that inspired me to fall in love with organizing events. Ladies and gentlemen, please join me, put our hands together in showing our appreciation to the 13^th Excos.

To Sri and the rest of the 14^th Excos, we have been organizing events together lately. During those memorable days, we had learnt to cope with unexpected situation during events, and care for one another in Students’ Union. As the president of the 14^th Excos, it is my honour to lead this group of potential leaders. Together as one, we will carry on to bring out more enjoyable events for the students, making NYP a vibrant institute to study in. I believe united we stand, we will excel!

First of all, I would like to thank the organizing committee lead by Mr Lee Kah Hong and his team for their effort in organising this year’s NYPSU Commissioning 2006.

When I was appointed as the President for the 13th Executive Committee, I was and current still am very honoured to be given this opportunity and challenge to lead my team and bring NYPSU to greater heights. Now, I would say these challenges and difficulties, which we have experienced throughout the year, made SU grow and made me, realised the importance of friendships, teamwork and appreciation from people of different working background. These are precious values not found in the textbooks.

During the Two and half years of service in Students’ Union, I am please to be part of this big family as I experienced a different campus life in NYP. Life in Students’ Union has been fulfilling and enriching for me as well as an eye-opener experience. I have met many friends and the special bonding between each and every one of us is unique thus this makes Students’ Union a great place to be in.

Every single person is different in character, thoughts and behaviour, and that is why we have learnt to care and share for one another. Working as a team, we learn to accommodate and understand each other. When organising events, we will always face hardship and stress; however, it is our joy and laughter that braced us through these difficulties and challenges and enjoyed the fun of event organising.

Here, I would also like to extend my thanks to the various clubs for their support to NYPSU. It has been our pleasure organising events with you. It was definitely memorable. With your help and support, we have made many events possible and together created a more vibrant and lively NYP campus. Of course, all these will also not be possible without the unwavering effort by the 13th Executive committee, our SA officers and our advisor, Mr Wee.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank my Vice-President, Eddie and the 13th Executive Committee and our sub-committee members for their efforts and valuable time they have sacrificed for Students’ Union and for the continuous support they have given me. It has been a great pleasure to knowing and working with you. To the 14th Executive Committee members, I wish them the best in bringing NYPSU to greater heights and achievements with the support of the 13th Executive Committee and our fellow Students’ Union members. NYPSU Chalet 2006

We are organising a 3 day 2 night chalet at Paris Park - Downtown East.
It will be held on the 25, 26 & 27 August 2006.

There will be a BBQ dinner on the 26th.

Kindly inform and pay $2 to Candice Ho if you are interested in coming for the Chalet.

This chalet is open only to Students' Union Members, Student Affair Officers & Seniors.

UPDATE: The Room no.s are K2012 & K2013... please call Candice @ 91813677 before you reach the place as Candice may not be at the chalet... :D

NYP Students' Union will be having it's Annual General Meeting this coming wednesday, 2nd August 2006.

All SU members are strongly encouraged to attend this significant meeting where the new Executive Committee will be announced.

Commissioning will then be held in September for the actual handover event where the current Executive Committee will hand over to the new 14thExecutive Committee.

Cultural Tour

Hi guys,

Student Union is organising a Cultural Tour for all 80 clubs in NYP including Student Union.

Its on the 22 July 2006.
Time : 10am to about 2 pm.

I would like around 40 Student Union members to join us in this tour. It will cost ard $4 per person. We will be visiting places such as Kampong Glam , Little India and Chinatown. Do take note that lunch will not be provided. Sorry.

It would be great pleasure if you can get back to me by Mon , 10 July 06 if you're interested. As I need to hand in the list of names to Mr Wee by Tuesday , 11 July 2006.

I will be conducting a one day Workshop for all fellow members of SU .

Date : 13/7/2006 (Thursday)
Time : 4pm
Venue : Students' Union Office E306
Attire: Sporty Attire (We have organize some light activities)

Purpose of this Workshop is to have
- A walkthrough of events planning
- Standard procedures to get proper paperwork done
- Develop a mutual understand amoung members
- Proper framework/ protocol of communication channels with our advisers

However, there is limited seats available

Hey an upcoming event,

It is the NYP Campus Road Run an event that you can get yourself on the feets for

Male Participants: A 4 km run
Either individual or with a team of 5 pax

Female Participants: A 2.4 km run
Either individual or with a team of 5 pax

Top 4 best team would be selected and teams must be of the same gender. For team category, you will also quailify for individual race prizes. There will be attractive to be won and lucky draw.
